Service overview

Behavior Assistant

Bringing a behavioral plan into everyday routines.

Behavior Assistant services support the implementation of a behavioral plan developed by the responsible professional. The goal is to connect that plan with the person’s everyday routines.

Understanding this service

A plan is most useful when the people involved understand how to put it into practice. This service supports that practical work, including communication with the individual and caregivers as appropriate.

The assistant’s role and the analyst’s role are different. Questions about the plan, oversight, and who is responsible for each part of support should be clarified before services begin.

What to discuss with our team

  • The behavioral plan that will guide support
  • The professional providing direction and oversight
  • The routines and settings where support is needed
  • How caregivers can participate and communicate

Before getting started

Start with a conversation about the individual’s priorities and the service of interest. Our team can explain what information is needed to review the request. Program eligibility and any required service authorization are separate from NRL’s own review.

Questions, answered.

Do I need an existing behavioral plan?

This service is tied to implementing a behavioral plan. Ask our office what needs to be in place for the particular request.

Can this replace Behavior Analysis?

The services have different purposes. An assistant supports implementation; the professional responsible for analysis guides the plan.

Can a family member make the first enquiry?

Yes, a family member can ask for general information. Authority to make decisions or provide documents must be clarified when applicable.

Good support starts with a conversation.
