Personal Support

Everyday assistance, with the person at the center.

Personal supports provide non-medical assistance with daily activities. The type of help depends on the individual’s needs, support plan, and applicable authorization.

Understanding this service

Daily life is made up of routines that are personal to each individual. A useful starting point is understanding which activities require assistance, what the person prefers to do independently, and how support can fit into a familiar environment.

The scope should be clear to everyone involved. Ask which activities are included and discuss any questions about physical assistance, household routines, or community participation. Do not assume nursing, medication assistance, or transportation are included.

What to discuss with our team

  • Daily activities for which assistance is needed
  • Personal preferences and existing routines
  • The scope and schedule of authorized support
  • Activities that require another type of professional service

Before getting started

Start with a conversation about the individual’s priorities and the service of interest. Our team can explain what information is needed to review the request. Program eligibility and any required service authorization are separate from NRL’s own review.

Questions, answered.

Is this the same as nursing?

Personal support and nursing are different services. Ask about the specific activity and professional support needed.

Are all daily activities included?

The scope depends on needs and the applicable plan and authorization. Confirm the activities before services begin.

Do office hours define service hours?

Office hours are for enquiries. Discuss the support schedule and availability directly with the team.

Good support starts with a conversation.
