Service overview
Respite
A pause for caregivers. Continuity for the individual.
Respite is a term used for temporary relief when a usual caregiver is unavailable or needs a break. For adults, the applicable support category and authorization need to be confirmed.

Understanding this service
Planning a break begins with understanding the routines that need to continue. A conversation can help clarify who normally provides care, which activities require support, and what information the team needs to review the request.
For adults receiving iBudget services, respite-type support may fall within Personal Supports. Do not assume there is a separate adult Respite authorization. Ask our team and the relevant program coordinator to clarify the category and scope for the individual.
What to discuss with our team
- The planned period and reason support is needed
- The individual’s familiar routines and assistance needs
- The applicable adult service category and authorization
- Availability and arrangements before the caregiver’s absence
Before getting started
Start with a conversation about the individual’s priorities and the service of interest. Our team can explain what information is needed to review the request. Program eligibility and any required service authorization are separate from NRL’s own review.

How does this apply to adults?
The category and authorization must be clarified for the adult’s situation. Respite-type support may be provided within Personal Supports under iBudget.
Is this an emergency-response service?
This website does not offer emergency response or guarantee immediate availability. Discuss planned support with the office; contact appropriate emergency services for an emergency.
Can I arrange a break immediately?
Availability and review must be confirmed before support begins. A call or enquiry is not a service booking.
Good support starts with a conversation.
